A winter weather advisory is in effect from noon today to 6 p.m. Tuesday for the La Crosse area.

Light snow is expected to intensify by noon, and then persist through tonight, according to the National Weather Service office in La Crosse. The snow will end slowly on Tuesday, with a total accumulation of 5 to 8 inches expected by evening.

As of 7 a.m. today, there are no closings or delays for any area schools.

There is a Winter Storm Warning in effect for southeast and east central Wisconsin tonight through Tuesday night. Forecasters expect 7 to 11 inches of snow near Lake Michigan with 5 to 8 inches farther inland.
