Holmen church to host divorce group

Holmen Lutheran Church will host a DivorceCare seminar and support group that will be held weekly beginning at 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 12.

DivorceCare features nationally recognized experts on divorce and recovery topics. Seminar sessions include Facing Your Anger, Facing Your Loneliness, Depression, New Relationships and Forgiveness.

Coulee Region Gospel Choir to begin spring concert prep

The Coulee Region Gospel Choir will begin rehearsals for its spring concert session on Jan. 11 at 3 p.m. at Sand Lake Wesleyan Church in Onalaska.

The program will be “Experiencing God, a Worship Experience to Know and Do the Will of God” written by Gary Rhodes and Claire Cloninger with Henry Blackaby. The music is contemporary in style.

Dean Gunnarson, who recently directed “Child of the Promise,” will direct the choir assisted by Ruth Ann Granum. The choir will rehearse for seven weeks and present the concert in March and April.

Pancake breakfast to support mission

First Congregational Church at 2503 Main St., La Crosse, will host a pancake breakfast fundraiser to support a youth mission trip to Appalachia.

Pancakes, eggs, sausage and beverages will be served from 8 to 11 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 11, in the church’s community room. Cost is $6, $4 for ages 6-12, free for younger.

Chastity ring ceremony set for Feb. 11

The annual chastity ring ceremony will be held at 6 p.m. Feb. 11, at St. James the Less Catholic Church, 1032 Caledonia St. in La Crosse. This event is open to all young adults from ninth grade on up.

Promises will be spoken, followed by the blessing of rings. There will be a reception immediately following the ceremony. RSVP at least two weeks in advance by calling Donna at 782-1022.

Roncalli Newman Parish releases cookbook

Roncalli Newman Parish, La Crosse, has published a parish cookbook, “Come to the Feast,” which is available for purchase through the parish or by contacting Erma at 895-4480 or Sherry at 792-9554. The book has more than 400 recipes, including an ethnic specialties section. The book costs $10 and all profits benefit the parish renovation project.
