Music fans won’t have to wait in line for a chance at a backstage pass to The Vans Warped Tour this summer if they’re willing to help save lives and give blood to the American Red Cross.

The Red Cross and students from West Salem and Bangor high schools are partnering to help increase blood donations this summer by offering presenting blood donors at the West Salem & Bangor Community Blood Drive on July 29 a free VIP backstage pass to The Vans Warped Tour along with a free T-shirt.

Collecting blood during the summer months is often more difficult than during other times of the year because colleges, universities and high schools are not in session.

The West Salem & Bangor Community Blood Drive will be held on Tuesday, July 29 from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. at Bangor High School, located at 700 10th Ave. S.

The upcoming Midwest Vans Warped Tour concert dates are Aug. 1 in Milwaukee, Aug. 2 in Chicago and Aug. 3 in Shakopee, Minn.

Every presenting blood donor at the West Salem & Bangor Community Blood Drive will receive a VIP backstage pass to the Vans Warped Tour; a concert ticket will still need to be purchased. Donors need to be at least 17 years old — or 16 with a signed Red Cross parental/guardian consent form — weigh at least 110 pounds and be in good health to donate.

Eligible donors can call Melissa at 486-5240 or go online to givebloodgivelife.org for more information and to make a blood donation appointment.
