Thora A. Pfaff
LA CROSSE -- Thora A. Pfaff, 97, of La Crosse died Friday, June 27, 2008, at Gundersen Lutheran Medical Center in La Crosse. She was born in Westby, Wis., on Nov. 11, 1910, to Tobias and Anna (Smidsang) Torgerson. She married Roy J. Pfaff on May 20, 1930, in Middle Ridge, Wis., and he preceded her in death on April 9, 1976. Thora is survived by her daughter, Faye (Al) Cooper of West Salem, Wis.; two sons, Steven Pfaff of La Crosse and Dennis (Katy) Pfaff of New Berlin, Wis.; 22 grandchildren, 41 great-grandchildren and numerous great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband, Roy, she was preceded in death by one daughter, AnnaMae; two sons, Robert L. and DuWayne; five sisters and three brothers.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2008, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in La Crosse. The Rev. Lawrence B. Berger will officiate. Burial will follow at Mormon Coulee Memorial Park Cemetery, La Crosse. Friends may call from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home of La Crosse, where a rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will also be held at the church from 11:30 on Tuesday until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
David N. Rogness
WEST SALEM/PRAIRIE DU CHIEN, Wis. — David N. Rogness, 71, of West Salem and formerly of Prairie du Chien passed away Thursday, June 26, 2008, at Franciscan Skemp Medical Center, La Crosse, after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born on June 24, 1937, in La Crosse to Sanford “Sam” and Evelyn (Erickson) Rogness. David graduated from Monona High School in Monona, Iowa, in 1955 before enlisting in the United States Navy. After he was honorably discharged, he then attended University of South Dakota in Vermillion. On Feb. 13, 1965, David married Judith Harmon in Prairie du Chien. He was employed by Scenic Concepts Aerial Photography in La Crosse for 13 years. David’s family was very important to him and they will miss him dearly.
Survivors include his loving wife of 43 years, Judi; two children, Jeff (Stephany) of Madison and Jennifer (Kent) Flock of West Salem; two granddaughters, Sydney Susan Rogness and Samantha Grace Rogness, both of Madison; two brothers, Dennis A. (Joanne) Rogness of Berwyn, Ill., and Darrell S. (Suzanne) Rogness of Waukon, Iowa; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be Monday, June 30, at 11 a.m. at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 359 N. Leonard St., West Salem. The Rev. Martha J. Hampton will officiate. Burial will be in Hamilton Cemetery with military honors by Berg-Hemker-Olson American Legion Post 51 of West Salem and the U.S. Military Funeral Honors Program. Friends may call at Jostad-Jandt Funeral Home, 121 N. Youlon St., West Salem, on Sunday from 3 to 5 p.m. and at the church on Monday from 10 a.m. until the time of services.
