Extra Effort winners announced for May
West Salem High School’s May’s Extra Effort award winners are seniors Kaitlin Webber and Ploypilin Thiengtavor and junior Clark Anderson.
Webber describes herself as a hard-working, energetic and sometimes loud individual. She has enjoyed accounting during school and feels that she can use those skills to better her future. Webber plans to attend Western Wisconsin Technical College in La Crosse for business management. In her spare time, Webber likes to knit, hang with friends and spend time with her baby brother.
Anderson said that the reason he learns and gets good grades is so he can please both his parents and himself. Anderson thinks highly of his parents and aunt for rewarding him for doing well in school. During the school year, Anderson likes to participate in football, basketball and track and field. During the summer, Anderson enjoys playing volleyball.
Physical education teacher Jamie Olson nominated Anderson. Olson said that Anderson’s work with special education during regular physical education is the main reason why he nominated him.
Thiengtavor, one of the year’s foreign exchange students from Thailand, recently graduated from West Salem High School. Thiengtavor enjoyed chemistry while here.
Chemistry teacher Toni Key nominated Thiengtavor. Key commented that Thiengtavor has worked very hard in chemistry and has been a joy to interact with in class. Thiengtavor plans to attend Winona State University for biology. She hopes to enter a medical field in either biology or surgery.
