The 18-year-old wasn’t wearing a seat belt at the time and was ejected from the vehicle, according to the report. He was airlifted to St. Mary’s Hospital, treated and released.

Two passengers, both of West Salem, also were injured in the accident.

West Salem’s history to be brought to life

The tenants of Salem Terrace, 104 Lewis St. in West Salem, are inviting community friends, school children and families to hear the tales of West Salem’s history from local historian, Errol Kindschy.

The event will be held in the dining lounge, transformed into a time from the past. Kindschy will bring to light the talent and trades which helped form the community, who the first settlers were, the growth of the small town and stories not found in the history books.

This event helps to celebrate the one-year anniversary that Salem Terrace has been part of West Salem’s history.

The special presentation is on Saturday, June 21 from 2-3 p.m. Refreshments will be served, and staff will be available for tours.

Call Patty at 786-2440 for more information and to reserve a spot.

Salem Terrace provides a “community of life” with senior housing apartments for independent and assisted living needs.

Salem Terrace is a service by Bethany St. Joseph Corporation.
