Skyler Reynolds, coach of the West Salem High School cross country team, has resigned after seven seasons as head coach.
Reynolds, 27, told the team on May 28 that he had been given a job at Boscobel School District in Boscobel, Wis., which is Reynolds’ hometown; Reynolds also taught at Boscobel this year.
Reynolds started coaching West Salem during his sophomore year in college. He coached the team to four girls’ conference titles and two boys’ conference titles in the past seven years. The girls team has also made it to state the last four seasons and the boys team has sent runners the past three seasons.
Reynolds will be missed by many in the West Salem for his coaching skills and his fun-loving personality. The team was in tears after the coach announced that he wouldn’t be returning for another season.
A new coach has not been named yet, but athletic director LeRoy Krall is expected to name one soon.
